Meet the team – Jon Perkins, Managing Director

Did you know the baresca tapas family was founded by two brothers?

It was a shared vision between the two, which has translated into bringing little slices of Barcelona to Nottingham’s city centre and West Bridgford – brought to life by an incredible team around them.

We get to know so much about you all when visiting our restaurants, it’s only fair you get to know us. So, for our first team interview, we went straight to one of the big cheese – Jon Perkins – Managing Director and one of the two Perkins brothers behind the family.

In one sentence, what do you do in the baresca tapas family?

My official title (not that we use them very often) is Managing Director, but day to day I am responsible for finance and new projects - which essentially means ensuring we are performing to target, continuing to grow and open more restaurants!

What’s your favourite dish on the baresca tapas family menu?

Tough one as I keep changing my mind! Today, it’s Pork fillet with jamón croquettes.

Tell us about the day you decided to start the baresca tapas family – what went through your head?

Original idea came to us when we visited Barcelona before taking over the family business. Very clear memory of visiting numerous tapas bars and specifically saying to each other – YES, we need to get into tapas! Just love the whole style and culture of tapas – top quality ingredients, relaxed informal style, endless ideas and flair to experiment, absorbing environment and vibe.

What do you like to do outside of work?

Spending time with the family having 2 young daughters plus plenty of running & cycling.

What is your biggest personal achievement outside of work?

It would have to be completing my first half Iron man in 2017.

What’s your go-to dish to cook at home for friends & family?

Currently, I love to make a kale, feta, pine nut and cherry tomato filo pie, served with leaf and herb salad. The variety of fresh flavours complement each other really well.

What advice would you give to someone who wants to join the baresca tapas family?

Many people assume for the answer to be a tricky one, but for me it’s rather simple. If you have a passion for food, drink and making customers smile, we’d love to work with you.
